I'm in the middle of a clutch job, got the torque tube on the ground last night.
I'm assuming I have to take all the header bolts out to have the headers loose to get the clutch out? I have 1 7/8 Kooks, FWIW. Any tips on moving the headers around to get it out?
I have Dynatechs and all I had to do was loosen the bolts about an 1/8"and tie the header out of the way. You do not need to remove the bellhousing, just work thru the hole and inspection cover. You will need a flywheel holding tool to make the installation easier and get the proper torque on the bolts. The real challenge is getting out the pilot bearing, you are replacing it right? Now is the time to install a remote bleeder and new release bearing. Insulate all hydraulic hoses too. Check, check and double check everything as you put it back together You don't want to do this again!

The pilot is in good shape, I have a new slave, already have a remote bleeder and tons of hose insulation...
I took all the bolts out of my FLP's and let them hang. That gave me plenty of room.
The pilot bearing may look fine, but why not replace it while your in there. Rent a blind hole puller. Its a 5 minute job at most. The new bearing is less than $10.
