Default X-pipe Differences?

What is it that makes one manufacturer better then another? Is there a specific design that is used? Why couldn't a competent local exhaust tech fabricate one? Also, are 3 inch pipes better then 2.5? I know you can go too big but understand the 3 inch is better??? Thanks for your input.

there is a tru x that flows better. there is lots of them that are two pipes with a oval cut out and welded together. the tru x's will scavange better. that is the real design of these. then there is different materials such as stainless, steel, ect. then there are the weld on short x only, the long x's that bolt to the existing system. corsa has a bolt on. bassani has a bolt on. and many others. a true x looks like two x shaped half pipes welded together. they unwelded would lay flat on a table and still look like an x. i dont know about the 3inch over the other. some back pressure is needed for proper torque. i have one of the tru x's. mellowed the exhaust and got rid of most of the pop pop pop on decel. also eliminated the motor boat gurgle at idle. someone else will word this much better.

ok i'll try again.... dont go the 3 inch route. you will have to replace the whole system to take advantage of it. and it will "hang" lower
