Is this installed by a shop or are you doing the install?

Well it can vary a bit..but generally from what I have seen.. here is a break down:

Labor - 1500 give or take
Cam= 300-400
Pushrods= about 200
Springs- not sure but could vary anywhere from 300-900 I would imagine depending..

then depending on what else you want with the cam, T-stat, timing chain?
Dyno tune will run you around 500 bucks at any decent tuner(like FLP) which you will have to get with a cam swap.

I would say over all 3- 4k is a safe number.

That should get you started.

I had about $5K into heads, cam, LG pros, Xpipe, CIA, Injectors, plugs, oil pump, Timing chain, install and tune, but the prices are a little lower in my line of work. I would figure 25-30% higher would be about right.

It depends on what you want and who is going to do the install.

Take LG Motorsports cam package for instance: You can get a G5X kit for about $1450 shipped. That comes with the cam, springs, pushrods, seals, seats, and retainers. You will need a basic cam swap gastket kit which runs about $50 from Texas Speed. A full case of Mobil 1 which can be around $75-$80. Two filters which is about $10. Then if you are going to have someone do it I will use Next Level Performance who quoted me around $900 for install and then $500 for the tune. So all in all you are looking at about $3000 give or take a few hundred. Hope this helps.

ECS just posted cam installed with the goodies $2995.00. They use thier own custom grind on the cam, what the goodies are I'm not positive, but i think they are springs, double roller timing chain, and possibly an oil pump, and tuning of course.

02GT350, the install and parts prices range quite significantly depending on where you go for the parts and the install. ECS's price of $2995 looks to be very competitive.

Is there a chance all the vendors would post their prices and packages by region so people can "shop" around? Sounds like ECS is already cool with it as well as CT Corvettes and I think I've seen Vette doctors in differnet threads post some packages as well.

Some of these prices seem a little high to me. My H/C swap with all the goodies came in a little under 4k. If I were to have only done a cam it would have been around 2k. These prices are with pushrods, double springs, UD pulley, double roller chain, heavy duty oil pump, and dyno tune. Basically everything.

Yep, CT Corvette (just an example, don't kill me) shows all of his components and the final total with tuning. Pretty sure I saw a cam&springs, pushrods, retainers, plus AR headers for $3500 installed and tuned, which is pretty awesome if you step back and think about it. AR's alone are $1200 at your cost!

I think you need to know the exact parts being used to compare prices. As an example one tuner may use 918 springs while another is using 921 springs there is a significant price margin there.

I have seen too many posts where someone says my H/C cost only $xxxx and then after some reserach into what was done you see that different parts were used. this really does not make for a fair comparison.

Hey guys, figured I would throw in our parts list for our cam only packages. All our bigger cams come with Comp 921 springs and titanium retainers. The smaller packages we use Comp 918's. There is a little over a $400 difference between those two sets.

ECS cam of choice.
Comp 921 Spring kit
titanium retainers
ASP under driver pulley
2 new belts
Roll Master double roller chain
New Crank bolt
Front main seal
Ported oil pump
Ported throttle body
NGK TR-5 plugs
Taylor wires
160 degree thermostat
Full Dyno tuning.

etc...

And all that, installed on a C5 costs...? $2995 w/918s?

I haven't done mine yet, but I'm gathering parts. Running the numbers, with a labor & tune quote from my guy of choice, comes out to around $3100. That's with typical XER cam, Patriot duals, quality pushrods, timing set, oil pump, ASP crank pulley, Katech tensioner, Synister PS pulley, belts, plugs, gaskets, thermostat, etc. Add another $100 or so for fluids, and maybe another $100 for shipping and stuff I forgot.

I am putting on a fairly extensive pulley package, and that adds almost $500 in parts, so you could do without that if on a budget. I figured spend the install money once, as all that stuff has to come off anyways.

Oh, and I may go with a two-piece front cover. A local guy has some in beta test and if that goes well I may add one. Figure another $200 or so.

Here's a breakdown. If I'm missing something, I hope someone more experienced will chime in.

Code:
Install cam & kit AV $750
Dyno tune AV $500
Cam TR $399
Spring kit Patriot $240
Pushrods Comp	Forum $110
Timing set Cloyes	SDPC $150
Oil pump LPE $100
Gasket kit GM	SDPC $62
Spark plugs NGK TR $56
Balancer bolt ARP	TSP $28
Underdrive pulley	ASP	Forum $210
A/C belt TSP $16
Accessory belt TSP $20
PS pulley SynisterTR $99
Oil pump HiVol	LPE $100
Oil pump o-ring	GM TR $5
Oil cooler gasket ?	GM	TR $4
Belt tensioner Katech $135
180 thermostat	Hypertech	Forum $40
PCV catch can NLP $90
						 $3,114

The $2,995 price includes the 921 kit. Its $2,595 if a smaller cam is used that can use the 918 kit

I'm doing heads and cam right now on my car. I've got right around $2000 in all the parts. (CNC 243 heads from Patriot; Comp XE-R cam, pushrods, oil pump, timing chain, balancer, gaskets/seals/misc. from Texas Speed.) You should be able to do a cam-only swap for ~$1000, depending on how many "optional" or "suggested" extra goodies you decide to get. I'm doing my own installation and tuning...be sure to add that to the price if you are farming the job out. I also already had the popular supporting bolt-ons; if you're "starting from scratch", for best results, you should also consider these items (intake, exhaust, thermostat, etc.).
