I know you guys have the scoop on the HyperTech Programmer... I have a 2001 A4 C5 with a Dual K&N R/M Racing Intake and the A/A Exhaust MOD.... So my car is basically stock except for the Air intake! A fireman buddy of mine installed it on his new Chevy Truck and the thing flies and chirps the tires on some shift points! He notices an amazing increase in performance on a stock truck.
What is the difference between a HyperTech III and a HyperTech Plus???
Can I reset to Stock settings so my warranty won't be VOIDED???
Is the Programmer worth the Money???
What gains will I expect to see???
Will it cause ANY PROBLEMS or POP-UP ANY FAULT CODES???
I have a Hypertech in my 2001 Diesel Excursion and it ROCKS!, but for the C5 you don't want to even consider anything but the PowerloaderII by Steve Cole.
Do a search on "Powerloader"and read for day's about why. :yesnod: :yesnod:

I put one on my 01 Tahoe, and it did not make an amazing difference. In fact, programming it for premium fuel and firmer shifts, it made zero difference. I know this for a fact because a friend has an identical Tahoe (stock), and we raced - serveral times. I did not pull him at all. I called Hypertech, they told me without the colder t-stat and higher shift points it would not make much difference. I have now done this. I think it may be faster now (I have not been able to get a rematch yet). But if it is faster, it's not very noticable SOTP's. Did your friend make other mods? For these reasons, I expect on a Corvette that is already set to run on premium, and already shifts at 6000rpm (I think, I don't have an automatic) I don't think it will make any noticable difference.

They make a big difference on turbo diesels because they actually increase the boost.
hp gains will probably be minimal without a lower t-stat. but it will firm up your shift points. a lot of people don't like if they decides to go to 3.42's, cams, etc. it then is not a good application. for the money i think you may be able to achieve what you are looking for. if you buy one look for to firm up the shift points, and lower temps if you add a thermostat. also unlike the hand held power programmers it can return to stock. the only reason i won't by a powerloader. with the powerloader besides the wait, the only way you can go back to stock is have the pcm flashed or send the unit back to have a stock program onto the unit. my .02
As for lowering the temp, firmer shift for autos and raising the rev limiter, its good to get but for horsepower gains, minimal to none. I did 3 runs before and after installation with a G-Tech. Although not a scientific test, with the Hypertech, my times averaged out 2 tenths worse than without the Hypertech in 0-60MPH.
