Default Changing the Air Filter

I remember how it was a real bear to change the air filter in the C4. Now, I'm checking out how to do it on the my C5. The manual gives some directions, but all they say is lift up the clips, pull up on the filter case, replace and reverser the process. What's the story on those metal clips? Are you supposed to remove them, or do they bend up...come off, or what? Then once they're out of the way does the plastic box containing the filter come right up (or does it take a lot of muscle to pull it out). And finally when it comes to putting the new one in...does the assembly slide right back in and how are the clips re-attached? Anyone out there with some experience? Thanks!
P.S. one thing I did notice was that the C5 Air Filter is about half the size of my old C4 one.

It is real easy. Just as easy as the manual states. The metal straps are flexible so they allow the air filter to just pull straight out. Reverse when done.

MVP, thanks... I will do a "test run," I don't plan on actually changing it until I hit around 5K.

I just changed mine on Sunday.

FYI: Wall Mart now carried the Frame Air Filter for the Corvette and it sells for $9.96 or something under $10. Fits perfect.

The plastic cover doesn't come out. It stays connected to some grommets on the front frame rail. Just unclip the clips, and pull the filter straight out. Put the new filter in and clip the clips back in place. You'll see how the clips work once you unclip them.

Mike, roger that...understand that the clips remain in place (just lift and move them out of the way). Thanks!
