Ok, got my hands on some Sea Foam, probably the last few cans the California NAPA had, there was a little dust on the bottle.
Put one can 50/50 in the gas tank. Saving one for the oil change.
Need to know how to get it into the F/I without any trouble. Which vacuum line on the intake/ TB should I pour it in to, should I pour, drip, something?
I have heard good things about this stuff, you all swear by it. It must be good if it violates EPA laws.
I disconnect the PCV valve, stick a funnel in the end of the hose where the valve was and slowly pour in the sea foam. When you get close to the bottom of the can increase your rate until your motor stalls. Let the car sit over night and enjoy the smoke in the morning!
Hey, my Dad runs SeaFoam. He'll be pleased to know that the Vette Forum guys are using his product!
I've never been one to buy into snake oils as a fix for anything, but that mentality is from the old carburetor days. And, my Dad didn't appreciate being referred to as a snake oils salesman! Now with fuel injection, etc. I've found that SeaFoam works great for decarbonizing, cleaning crankcases, and so on. If you find that the store you're in doesn't have SeaFoam for the crankcase/gas tank, you can use Trans-Tune as it is the same formula just called something different. Also, try the Bugs-Be-Gone product ... it works awesome for removing bugs from the front of your car.
did this today and it works wonders... my smoke was as white as milk so i guess it needed a good cleaning. the car runs so much better at top end! great product
How often should this be done? I have 25k miles on my Z now, and I've only had it about 3 weeks or so.
Hi Ron,
I clean the top end every other oil change and add a can to the gas tank twice a year seems to be working good like this so far. I haven’t decided what to do about a catch can yet but I would imagine that after I install one the top end cleaning will be an annual chore.

If you put the Seafoam into the vacuum lines are you asking for trouble by breaking down a perfectly good running engine and inviting oil leakage. My car has 60K + miles and doesn't leak ANY OIL. I've had cars with severe oil consumption problems and once you use some detergent to CLEAN the engine the leakage gets WORSE.
Decarbonizing will not cause oils leaks, nor will it cause increased oil consumption. Often times rings that are stuck via carbon and contamination are freed and provide oil control once again.
As far as using this product in the oil, if you have a sludgy, dirty engine that isn't leaking now, it should not cause any other leaks.

Here is a Email I got from Sea Foam
Both products contain the same base oil ingredients, HOWEVER they are each formulated/mixed differently for specific purposes.
Trans Tune is for specific use in Hydraulic oil applications, maximum operating temperatures of 220 degrees. Cleans residue and dries moisture.
Sea Foam is for use in gasoline, diesel, Gas/oil mix, High temperature diesel oil and normal crankcase oils in gasoline application engines. Provides high temperature protection for cylinder temperatures.
I WOULD NOT USE TRANS TUNE FOR APPLICATIONS WHERE SEA FOAM IS RECOMMENDED, OR VICE VERSA.

Crap! Just when you think you got an inside secret!
That's Ok. Legally, the folks at SeaFoam wouldn't provide a document or make a statement that indicated anything different than what the can or literature say. There's plenty of SeaFoam to go around!
Sea Foam also makes Deep Creep. It is seafoam in an aerosol can. That is what it says on the can. So you can spray your throttle body dirt off the blade.
Ok, someone please explain to me what the decarbonizing does for the engine? I use sea foam in the fuel and the oil but I really do not know what decarbonizing will do for you.
