I need some help on an exhaust problem. After installing the AR Long tubes I found the passenger side tips would not line up right. I started to adjust everything I could but to no avail. I loosened the X Pipe at the headers and ensured the cats and X pipe were centered in the tunnel. The passenger side pipe where it ties into the TI over axle pipe keeps hitting the underpan no matter how I try to move things I cannot get the passenger side away from the side of the undercarriage unless I twist the muffler tips high and push the exhaust all the way back until the muffler is under the rear fascia. It almost acts like the flange on the end of the new pipe is put on wrong forcing the exhaust over to one side. If I loosen or take the bolts out at the over axle pipe the exhaust will not hit the side, once the bolts are tightened it pushes right against the side of the car. Any one else have this problem??
The drivers side is fine plenty of room against the side and no tip problem.
Thanks,
Leo
Here are some pictures of the flange on the pipe , , .
The flange looks like it is offset and when I tighten down the outboard side everthing is okay unitl I tighten the inboard side and then the whole pipe shifts to against the side of the car.
Anyone seen this before??
Thanks
Certainly looks like the flange is on crooked. A better shot would be where you have the muffler bolted up and straight, then take a shot of the flange to show the gap you're dealing with.
Depending on your experience with your i-pipe vendor, you could either try to have them replace it, or you could build up a shim to square things up.
I just dropped the driver side to check the flange and the inner pipe is flush all the way around the flange. There is approximately 1 to 1.5 inchs of clearance between the side and the pipe. I'll go out and shoot some pictures of the pipe installed and see what everyone thinks.
I tried calling Nick at ARH but being Sunday I didn't think they would be open.
Here are some more shots,
The first is the high flow cats
The collectors
The flange with just the bolts finger tight
Side clearance with bolts loose,
And after tightening both bolts, the outer bolt and nut did not affect moving the pipe. The pipe only shifted after the inner nut and bolt are tightened.
I knew it was going to good to be true. Should have gone with my gut feeling on the other brand. We'll see what happens if I get a call back.
Happy to hear that Nick was able to help. I bought the 1 7/8 system from AR, I have not installed yet. Nick really took the time to answer all of my questions about their design. Why is the x-pipe before the cats. What does a merge collecter do? What are the best flowing cats and why? How long are the primaries? He is not shy about talking about the headers and the reason behind this design.

Installed the new pipe, tips aligned right on the money first time and the sound going down the road........ worth every little cut, scrape and second of waiting for the system. Thanks ARH you rock!
