I got bored today and decided to remove the plugs and put anti seize on the plug threads and dielectric grease on the boots. I did this because my C5 is 3 years old and only has 13K miles on it and I am afraid by the time I have 50K or 60K miles the threads would gull in the head. Well all went well until I got to the last plug which is on the drivers side under the brake booster. I did as instructed from searching threads on this subject regarding removal of the air tube and brake booster hose but on my 04 there are additional hoses attached to the booster hose down under the booster. I can't get to these hoses which are on a T fitting. I do not have enough room to get the spark plug boot off without damaging it. AM I missing something?
Disconnect the spark plug wires at each spark plug:
- Twist each spark plug boot 1/2 turn.
- Pull only on the boot in order to remove the wire from each spark plug.

I was able to get all the others off but I just can't get my hand on the boot well enough to twist and pull. I have a fairly large hand but not freakishly so.
I can squeeze my hand in there to get the plug out, but to put that last plug back in I jack up the car and do it from under. Maybe you should just jack up the vette and try it from the bottom
but can you get the boot off from under the car. If so that may be the answer. I think I could get the plug out and back in once I get that #*$$$@ boot off.
I struggled with this too. I found that twisting the boot helped a lot. On the metal "T" fitting, doesn't it connect to another rubber hose near the back of the head? Can you disconnect that if it does?
I am not sure if any of those spark plug boot removal tools will be of much help either. All I can say is the first time they come off from the factory they are a beeatch!!!!

They sure are! They are tough enough when you can get your hands on them. I used a pair of small channel locks to get a couple of them off. I will try again tomorrow and see if I can get to it from underneath. If not I'll try to disconnect the hoses at the "T" fitting. I don't think earlier model C5's have that "T" fitting. One of those hoses goes to the airbox in the front of the engine.

Well I finally got that $#&@* boot off by removing or moving the brake booster and the air tube hose and holding it up out of the way and was able to get a pair of pliers on the boot and twisted and pulled and it finally came off. Once the boot was off the plug was easy. I think I was more "committed" the second try.
