first, the dreaded 'pull key wait 10 sec' message. After 3 or four stalls and restarts it was ok, and was fine the rest of the evening (as far as this goes).
Then, while doing 75 down the highway, the little T/C light comes on and I get 'A/H warming up' message. After 10-15 min of driving mind you. Then, suddenly I get 'Service A/H' and 'Service Vehicle Soon' displayed and the T/C light stays on.
I pull over at the next Gas station, shut her down for a few sec. and restart and everything is fine after that.
So what the heck do I do? Go to the dealer? Any advice is greatly appreciated at this point. I feel like the computer is goin' nuts, and there is no Ctrl-Alt-Delete available. My confidence in the car has dropped suddenly - I don't really feel like getting stranded anywhere, and I feel like the writing is on the wall...
I had a very similar problem with my 1999 C5 coupe last month while driving out-of-state on vacation.
I began to get various DIC messages, the the horn blew and the hatch released while I was driving.
I discovered water leaking under the right side dash and it had leaked into the computer compartment under the carpet, in the footwell. The computer was ruined and immobilized my car.
The a/c condensor drain had clogged, causing the water to back-up and leak inside the passenger compartment.
Although the car was repaired under the new car warranty, I was stranded and the car was out of service for five days.
This is a common C5 problem and a classic design and engineering defect of the "C5 Team".
Remove the computer cover - I'll bet you will find the wiring or computer is wet. Good luck.
Good question. If the car is stationary with A/C is running on a day with much humidity, the drain will leave a puddle under the right side. About under the passenger footwell, by golly. But I'm not sure if that is really a valid check that everything is OK.
