I tried a search, but it returned nothing, so forgive me for posts a topic that I'm sure has been discussed at length.
My 2001 Coupe drivers seat start rocking a few days ago. It's not bad, but bugs me. What causes this, and what is the fix? Is it something I can fix myself or do I have to take it to the dealer (prefer not to take it to the dealer).
Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on my 01. The exact part numbers to get were posted here not too long ago. I am sure someone still has them or the old posts could be found.
For anyone that has gotten this fixed - is it really fixed or did the rocking reappear?
There's a service bulletin out for this problem. I just took mine in and had it warranty fixed.. I don't know the exact parts but I'm sure you could find it. I didn't really notice how annoying it was until it was actually fixed.. hehe.
Is this a problem I have to look forward too also, I have a 2001 coupe, is it with the standard or sport seats, with or without memory option. I have the standard seats no memory, will I be okay or do I have to look forward to.
The part numbers for fixing the rocking seat: 88898621 (Seat Track adjuster) and 10272551 (Handle). I had mine fixed (with these part #'s), solid as a rock now.
If your dealer "plays dumb", call Chevy assistance. That is how I got my dealer to order the correct parts. DO NOT accept part numbers 12455533 or 12455495 which are the old part numbers for same pos as what was originally in the 2001 coupe.

I have the same problem but mine is a 98. I checked with the dealer, but my warranty is up. The price of the parts listed are almost $700. Anybody know of a cheaper fix tro get rid of the rocking?
I was told by the dealer that the current parts are not a permanent fix and another improved version is due out around December. Anyone else heard this?
The dealer had me adjust my seat to a ever so slightly different location and I have not had a problem since. I may try the new December Part if there is one coming just to make sure I have taken advantage of all the warranty.
It is a manufacturing defect. I have a '97 but it's under an extended GM warranty. The car only has 14,000 miles on it. The entire motor and sliding track was replaced. It is an annoying problem because the entire balance of the car is so tight.
To people with the seats fixed.....Did they fix it within the same day, or you have to leave your car overnight? Of course they have to order the parts first.
Mine is a 2000 and it started to rock 2 weeks ago.
C5ers,
Dropped my car off at Performance Chevy in Chapel Hill yesterday to have a rocking driver's seat fixed. After doing some research ahead of time I had found out that updated parts were available to fix this problem.
After having the car overnight, I went back this morning and was told that Chevrolet knows about the problem, and there is a fix in the works.
"Just bear with it for the time being, and we'll call you when a fix is available."
I told the dealer that I wasn't going to drive around a car with a rocking seat. Order the current parts, which will be a temporary fix, and then they can install the permanent fix when it is available. The regional service rep was called by the dealer, and he refused to install another set of the current parts. His solution was for me to drive the car as is and call the dealer in a month or two to see if there is a fix.
This is unacceptable to me. I will be contacting Chevy today.
Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

I had the same issue in my 1998 vert and they whacked me
$800. and change and split it with me.
Now I see the numbers (below) and I think they porked me good.
It's unsafe to drive a performance car with a rocking seat IMHO!
GM should take full responsibility for both repairs.
