Default the few main C5 Issues

As the owner of 4 C5 corvettes (I own an exotic car rental)
The main issues I encountered so far:

Oil pressure sensor gone bad (2 cars)
AC Display dim
HUD display almost to dim for daylight (2 cars)
Front blinkers case letting in water (and of course constant light bulb changing)
And one EBCM failure

Interesting...I would say the two most common C5 issues are the column lock and the driver's side axle seal leak. I've had both of those, but none of the problems you list. Of course my "stripper" FRC doesn't have those fancy displays.

BTW-were you looking for responses to this post, or just sharing?

Missing a few things-
As mentioned, column lock
Rocking seats
Air doors stuck cause of broken vaccuum line
usually caused by leaky battery
Intermittent door lock (could be classified under the BCM issue)
headlight gears
door panels coming apart
squeeky belts/idler pulleys
hazard switch burning out
horn pad failing
slave cylinder dying on M6's

Not had any of those issues in my C5, but have had 3 rear differential seals go out.

Best car I've ever had...
My LS1 A-4 has a few quirks and I really enjoy driving it - 40,000 miles in the past two and half years.
However it has had these ailments:
1) Bad oil pressure sensor.
2) water contaminated burnt-out front turn signal bulbs.
3) Thumping run flats.
4) Axle seal leak.
5) Rocking seats.
6) head light gear failure.
7) automatic transmission pan seal failure (very messy driveway)
8) column-lock locked (fixed by recall).
9) belt tensioners & squeeky belts.
10) fuel filter seal failed (gas poured on driver's side exhaust pipe) eek:
11) seat belt recall.
12) intermittent quirks...

Now it is time to thank all the good people on the Corvette Forum for helping me in the continueing adventure of Corvette ownership.

Thanks and cheers for America's sports car.

Here are a couple I just remembered:
13) Windshield wiper motor quit.
14) leaking coolant overflow tank (saved by DIC low-coolant message).

I count 7 problems on 4 cars in how many total years and total miles??? And these are rental cars?

I have had my 04 z51 a4 for just over two months, and so far not a thing has gone wrong, the car has 10,000 miles. I know two months is nothing, i hope the 04's had some known fixes done to them.

Had 2001 for over 6 years and 30,000 miles now. Been in shop 5 times total:

Year 2 - HUD changing saved settings on its own - Dealership said bad battery - replaced under warranty.

Year 2 - Left Headlight Motor - replaced under warranty.

Year 4 - Right Headlight Motor - replaced under GMPP warranty.

Year 5 - Windshield replaced due to rock damage (doesn't count).

Year 5 - Blistering of paint on rear deck lid just in front of rear bumper (appeared ovenight and only visible from certain angles/lighting combinations - turned out to be a rare but known issue - probably took so long to show up sinec my car rarely sees sunlight/heat) - fixed by GM Good Will.

What was done to fix the HUD display? Was it replaced?

Can't believe the window regulator on the passenger's side didn't make the list.

I THOUGHT IT WAS MY IMAGINATION! Damn. Mine appeared seemingly overnight too. I have never heard of this until now. I have a 2000 and 6 years later I notice this bumpy appearance on the deck lid one day. Did they have an explanation for it? I thought it was my imagination at first because I was trying to think if I spilled something on it but it looked too uniform of an area to be random and it was clearly not a paint "defect".

There was no explaination for it, but it was a known issue on a very few C5s and I think Cameros as well. Mine looked like a bonding strip or something was starting to bleed through - it was about 3" wide and inset about one inch from the rear deck edge across the entire width. It was very strange because it would show up very noticible in my garage, but outside you would have to get the afternoon light to hit it just right to see it. They could not find any references to the problem at first, but the "keyword" was "Blistering". To fix the problem they had to REPLACE the entire rear deck and remove and reuse my rear window (GM said that resurfacing and repainting would not fix the problem for long). They estimated 2-3 days - took 3 weeks mainly since they had to reposition the window twice and it has to set in the shop 2-3 days before the car is moved for the sealer to set-up and that was subcontracted locally. Been fine ever since.

It wasn't covered under warranty or GMPP, but I think they took mercy on me since I had purchased so many Corvettes in the past and rarely complain much to the dealership.

BTW - it literally did appear OVERNIGHT after several years. I pretty much feather dust my black car every night and I usually waxed it about once a month prior to Zaino. I had just waxed the car the night before and it was not there. I had not even taken the car out of the garage and the next night there it was.

A4 cars were relieved of the CL from 2001 on.

I'd call that list pretty insignificant for four cars doing rental duty.
