My buddy and myself just installed my LS6 manifold in my 99 coupe. Took about three hours. The only thing that gave us trouble was reconnecting the small vacuum line behind the manifold. I do have one question. Why do you have to remove the back coolant lines and plug them off?

PS I just want to thank all the forum members who gave me the tips. I could not have done it without you.
The LS6 manifold sits lower in the valley than the LS1 does-so the lines must be removed or they will hit the bottom of the intake and won't allow you to tighten it up all the way. Some guys have chosen to grind the bottom of the manifold in spots to gain clearance--They do this sometimes in race applications to help remove the steam from the back of the engine for better cooling---For the street just removing them is best.
gotta ask, did you install the intake over the 97-00 spider?
to answer your question, the LS1 intake has a wave, the LS6 has flat bottom, no room, unless later pipes/plugs or above procedure is done
So which is "better" for a street car? Should you just cap them? Or, does grinding the bottom for clearance make more sense (i.e., keeping is "closer" to stock setup)???
