helping N2Z06stuff with lowering his car only to find the dealer did him a favor and jacked up one of his wheel studs. attempted to remove the spindle but found out it was a bit more involved than some of the other cars i've done so we're putting it back together so he can take it back to the dealer that did him the 'favor'.
in the process of disassembly, i removed the spindle nut trying to use a torque wrench to determine the torque setting but maxxed it out at 250. had to break it off with an impact.
i did a search and i find figures of 118-125lbs/ft but that doesn't seem to jive with how tight the nut was during disassembly.
can someone please confirm torque on the spindle nut?
The torque to break a nut loose is not a good indication of how much it should be tightened due to corrosion, etc., plus the axle nut is a self locking nut.
GM chassis service manual says 118 ft-lb.
