New Rings Installed
Hi There--
I just had the new rings installed at 9900 miles. I had been using a quart of oil for every 500-600 miles. The dealer is Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa, CA & the service manager's name is Alan Vondra. Their phone number is 714-546-1200. I want to thank everyone for their support & advice.

How long did it take?
Does it still use oil?
Several on this forum would like to know if the fix really cured the problem or
created new problems.

It took a week & I got a free loan car. The GM tech who did the work has over 20 years & had already replaced the rings before & he explained how he had to torque everything in a certain manner & really seemed to know what he was doing. I only have 500 miles since the rings were installed & it's too soon to tell, but the service manager told me GM was getting positive responses from owners, that the new rings cured the oil consumption problem.

Notice any other problems? Oil leaks etc after having the rings replaced?
Had my car in for a week for ring replacement. Dealer couldn't get to it because another vette had vibration problems and they have only 1 vette mechanic. So I picked my car up and told them to call when they were ready.

I don't have any oil leaks & hope it stays that way. So far, so good.
Good luck on yours, did you speak with tech who is going to do the ring install, so that you can him ask questions?
