Hi all,
So I finally purchased my headers and hi flo cats. Went to a local C5/C6 specialist and he quoted me $500 for the install and another $525 for a dyno tune. Seems a little excessive to me, at least for the install. I think the dyno price is about right. What do you guys think? I will be using all of my own parts, but may require a little welding. Anyone know of a reputable shop here in Tampa?
Why not DIY? Really it isn't a hard install if you take your time. Certainly would save a lot of money and I agree with the above statement, but to get the full gains out of a set of headers, a tune would be it.
Just a piece of advice, if you fill in your profile completely and let folks know where you are, there are some of us that like to help others install performance mods and such.
This install should take about 4-6 hrs depending on how well things go. If you do the math, thats around 100/hr. I would agree with MPH1972 why not do it yourself. I bet you could get some help if you asked.

Welding? So you're keeping your stock H pipe and adapting the headers and cats to that? Why not spend the $500 you would have spent to have someone install and put that towards an X setup that will bolt to your headers, cats and catback? Welding stainless requires MIG/TIG and some decent welding ability....might as well get the right parts rather than hacking the install to save a few bucks and end up paying more to install.
I did my LG street setup and a friends (1997 and 2000 M6), each took about 7 hrs but that included the stupid AIR tube. Skip that part of the process and just block them if you have the AIR connectors on your headers and it should take a lot less.
I already have a WCC x-pipe and B&B Tri Flo PRT cat back. The headers i bought from that auction site along with a set of 3" hi flow cats. I guess I wouldn't need any welding if I just clamp it all together. I would love to do the header install myself, I am somewhat mechanically inclined and I believe I could do it. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a lift and I wouldn't attempt it on jackstands. I would be willing to pay to use someones lift. If there are any kind souls in the Tampa area who would like to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

We did both sets on jackstands. It really isn't too bad of a job if you drive the car up rhino ramps, then get a jack under there and go as high as the jack will go and then support it with jackstands...then jack the rear as high as that will go. Passenger side goes in from the top after removing the valve cover..so you only need to be under there to loosen the starter, remove a few ground wires, and install the drivers side...plus connect the pipes to cats, X and catback. I'd NEVER do a clutch without a lift but I think the headers are totally "driveway" doable.
