I have the Corsa exhaust and a CAI as my only mods! I don't want anything thats super lumpy and rough, had a V8 powered S10 that was over cammed and it had rude street manners.
You should be able to achieve that. Give LG a call and talk to them about their cam selections.
A G5X2 probably would fit what you are trying to achieve as far as street manners but I don't know about the HP gains. I am getting ready to put in a G5X3 in mine and it should still have fairly good street manners. Send Y2Kvert4me a PM and ask him about how his car handles as far as street manners. He put in a G5X4 which is a pretty good size and it sounds wicked. Hope this helps you out some and good luck with whatever you choose.
A z51 is that just a suspnsion option?? If it is then without heads you will have a tough time getting 40-50 RWHP with just a cam.A Z06 has better flowing heads so you may get that much with a cam in the .228 to .230 range @ 50. With stock LS1 heads a cam will not reach it's full potential because the heads won't flow enough.. Most cam Co.'s claim about 25-30 RWHP with a medium sized cam wih stock heads. Bigger will just be a waste and create horrible driveability issues.(my opinion)
Thanks for the help guys!
I dont know what i wanna do, i'm just looking to gain around 30 to 40hp for around $2000. Dont know what my plans are long term, i have plans on buying a used C6 when prices come back down to earth.
I can't see spending big money on mods then lose big time when it's time to sell.
Can you do the work yourself? If you can then $2K will get you atleast 50rwhp. You can get over 400rwhp from the TSP longtubes and their 228R cam. Add some 918's and a tune and you are right at $2K which is a hell of a punch in power and a great bargain. You can usually pick up a used cam really cheap on the forsale section here and LS1tech.com which will save you some $$ also.
