Default OEM auto dimming mirror conversion help

I have an OEM autodimming mirror that I am trying to get wired up in my Y2K that had a standard mirror.

I would like a big favor from anyone who has successfully wired up this same combo. I simply need to know how you wired it.

Now I know there is a wiring schematic on c5forum.com located here: http://c5forum.com/diy/electro_mirror.php

What this is telling me is that the two orange wires should be on the DRIVERS side and the brown/black wires should be on the PASSENGER side of the mirror. Mine do not work that way.

I have wired the mirror exactly as shown on this page but I have found that the two orange wires on my car go on the PASSENGER side. The mirror now works 1/2 right. The LEDs light up and the auto dimming works, but the lights do not activate when the door is open, nor when the key is out and you press the light button. The only way they work is if the car is running and you press the light button.

My question for those of you who have converted is, in which order are your 4 wires going into the harness from drivers side to passenger (when the mirror is mounted on the windshield) ? There is a bright orange and a dull orange, a brown and a black.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I followed his instructions exactly and it worked. However, he points out that the two orange wires are not interchangeable. Perhaps you mixed them up and then switched the position of the orange wires to passenger side to get it to work.
