Default Ok.. Z51 Question...

I have the Z51 option... 2006 with the A6... does that mean I have a 3:15 rear end gear.... or still the 2:73? I think the Glove box says G20

And I'm sure you realize that people post in the wrong forum occasionally, maybe he though that you made an honest mistake and was just trying to help...

Was it that obvious from my lack of an answer?

Default LOL.... yes...

I know from all my C5 friends, that the Z51 on all C5's automaticly came with the 3:15... but I guess.. with the A6.. they changed it? In my "Book" it says Special gear ratios for manual... guess the A6 does not get it automaticly. Just thought it was funny... both being 6 speeds and all..

While this is the C5 section, I'll answer anyway. No point in being a vette snob. As far as I have been able to tell, all C6s with the A6 tranny have a 2.56 rear, not a 2.73 or 3.15. Given the gearing of the A6, this gives you better gear ratios than an A4 with 3.15s. Also, with the new design of the 06 differential, there are only the two factory gearsets, 3.42 and 2.56, available. The guys from DTE have stated that they are looking into other ratios ( something like a 3.08 would be great for the A6), but nothing is available yet.

Change 1 - I just read in the C6 section that DTE will shortly have a 3.15 gearset for the 06-07 differential. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1568901
