Default Correct operation of Active Handling

Can anyone tell me how Active Handling is supposed to be invoked? I have a 2000FRC and all I can select is "Active Handling/Traction Control ON", and "Active Handling/Traction Control OFF". I thought I was supposed to get a third option called "Active Handling ON /Traction Control OFF" ?
I don't have a manual for the car to tell me what it is supposed to be.
Thanks

What you want is competitive driving mode (AH on, TC off) To do that on your car, the car has to be stopped. Then hold down the AH button for 5 seconds and the message should appear on the DIC.

You're welcome...

Wait, it get's better!

Many drivers want to run Competition Mode all the time because Traction Control on the C5 is very abrupt and intrusive.

We have a product called the TracActive Controller which puts the computer in Competition Mode automatically, every time you start the car! It can also turn off Active Handling as well, or remain passive and do nothing. The Deluxe version even clears the "Competition Mode" message from the DIC!

It's easy to install and a snap to program. Many forum users have purchased one so far and everyone loves it.

Thanks and take care!

Does anyone know if 98's with F45 have this competition mode? I always forget to try it myself, but I haven't heard anyone say it does.

It's really a question of if you have AH. If your car is equipped with the JL4 - Active Handling option, it IS capable of running in Competition Mode.

Enjoy....thanks

It can actually be UNSAFE to race with TC ON. We had an autocross this weekend and one of the 2001 Z06s spun out. He accelerated in 3rd gear out of a turn and the rears started to spin. TC kicked in and threw him into a spin. He overcompensated with the steering wheel (he thought) and the AH was not able to recover control. He spun backwards, but luckily did not hit anything but rubber cones. WHEW!! I left mine in COMPETITIVE MODE!

You only need to have the car standing still.

I installed the TracActive handling module a couple of weeks ago and it is great! You also get great tech support if you have any questions or problems.

One thing to note, in my 2001 vert, I can switch to competition mode if the car is moving, but not under all circumstances (some experimentation is in order). Has anyone figured out exactly when you can do it?

For example, I will sometimes pull out of a light, get into 2nd then hold the AH/TC button down. 5 seconds later I'm in comp mode.

I was under the impression that you could switch into Competition Mode on 2001 and later cars moving or not. I wasn't aware that it would only switch when you're moving sometimes.

Still, better than us '99 drivers! How do you think I came up with the inspiration for the TracActive!

I can start competition mode from a stop or moving on my 2001. It does seem to take longer than 5 sec sometimes.
