Default bulb replacement

I bought my wife some of the HIR bulbs for Christmas, and replaced the high beam bulbs on her car. I then tried to pull the low beam bulbs out to do the "high beam mod", but can't get either one of them to BUDGE Is there a different technique for pulling the low beam bulbs??. I even came in from the bottom and turned them so hard I thought they were about to break.

No difference in procedure to remove low, rather than high beam bulbs.
I just replaced both my high and low beam bulbs a few weeks ago. Was a tight fit for my big hands, even with the black plastic cover removed from the headlights. Suggest removal of the hood bumper as well for even more room. I know what you've experienced in changing these bulbs, but just be patient. Are you sure you are turning the bulb socket in the correct direction?

push in and turn. Should come off the same way. Some are tighter than others.

Just did my HIR bulbs last night (lows only), the driver's side came out after some muscle applied but the pass. side would not budge. Wound up removing the headlight assem. and connectors and did it out of the car and it was still tough - probably in there since made in '99.

Do you like the results of the new bulbs? Are they much brighter then the stock ones? I just ordered some today, so I’m curious.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

Default low beam bulb woes

I got a 98 this December. First night flight on a country road and I could not believe how poor the low beams worked.
Read this forum and went right to NAPA and purchased the "Wagner TRUVIEW bulbs" PN BP9005TV2. A pair cost about $27.00.
I feel your pain. But with perserverance the bulbs finally came out.
I thought I was going to break the low beams off. The high beams came out easily though when I tried them to see if they would budge.
Go figure????

Default How bright are they?

Anyone who has them, how bright are they compared to stock? A little, some or a lot?

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

They seemed brighter to me.
I had searched the posts here and found where owners have posted pictures to show the diff.

I'm turning them the same way I did the highs (which came right out with little effort) but they feel as f they are about to break. I"m not pushing them in, but did try it briefly to see if that was the issue. I pulled the plastic cover that covers the front and side of the lights (3 phillips screws) and the top cover (4 torx screws) but am still having some problems getting a good grip on them. I even pulled the plastic off from the bottom and reached up to them. Just don't want to break the lenses and have to spend big money to fix I guess
Like TSTS said, they've proably been inthere since the car was built

Probably as good as you can get without going to HID projectors.

They at least make the car safe to drive at night...

You could try spraying it with WD-40. I use that all the time and seems to loosen stuck parts up. Just a thought.

Thanks,

I thought about that, but was afraid the oil might have a negative affect on the bulbs if it got on them during removal or installation.

Default headlight bulbs

While you are at it change the fog lamp bulbs and put in 885s. They are 50 watts not 38 watts like the 889 or 893 bulbs in there. Then re-aim the fogs with a torx wrench and you will ALMOST not need your low beams. BIGHANK
