oracleguru,

I sketched this up real quick tonight.
http://www.ncal.verio.com/~frptech/n2o/N2OWiring.htm

It looks alot worse on paper than it actually is so don't let it get to you...

If you need further detail, let me know - I know this sketch isn't the greatest...

I'l try and get some pics as well on wed.

Followed them exactly. I'm going to check with the guy's at TNT on using the progressive with their systems. I'm sure with the progressive and tire pressure adjustments I can get the Nitto's to hook up now. I had been leaning towards the MT ET streets or drags, but with all of the "wobble" at high speeds without skinny's, I'm concerened about that option as well.

My biggest problem is I've dropped from low 1.8 60' (that's on runcraps) to 2.0+ 60's because of tire spin on launch, and with running brackets/index, I can't rely on hand firing the nitrous.

Do you know... are all n2o controllers basically compatible with the progressive controllers?

TIA

'Nother question...

I assume (which is always dangereous), that the progressive is metering the fuel/nitrous and not using the stock solenoids which rely on the pills to measure the fuel/nitrous flow... Y/N???

Are the stock solenoids and pills replaced via the progressive system, and the flow metered by the computer and variable solenoids instead??

TIA

oracleguru,

I'm using the TNT kit on the wet side with the controller and window switch.
I went over the setup w/ tony@TNT by phone when I first decided to do it and the only thing he really suggested was adding the additional larger F2 'noids as a window(open/close only) since the pulsing really beats up the one noid and increases the risk of failure.

Its my understanding that one company makes both the nx & tnt solenoids, but, I can be wrong... Most noids should work fine with a progressive setup - although I don't think I would use the smaller powershot type noids from NOS because of the beating they take. Also, noid maintenance & inspection becomes even more important in a prog setup - mine are swapped & inspected after about every 2-3 minutes of full usage. - This is a big safety point that alot of guys overlook...

The fuel&n2o jets are still in use.
The NOS is a time based progressive controller. The venom and some of the schlitz model controllers go from very basic(like the NOS) to very extensive with built in comp, regulator, etc. In the case of the NOS, the controller simply pulses the noids X # of times over X amount of time to achieve a the percentage & progression. Which brings up another good point, in the time windows we're talking about (3 secs), different noids & jets may net slightly different results. There is a good explanation of this in the controller manual, but, in short some noids will flow as much at 75% as they do at 100%. So, there is some testing involved.

Never thought of pulsing the noids to reduce/manage the flow. I can see why that would wear on them. When you inspect the noids what are you looking for? Are there "spare parts" you would want to keep on hand for rebuilding them and how often would you suspect they need to be replaced. I'm running a straight forward TNT system with purge on mine.

With the progressive, what triggers the start timer... the WOT switch? With my A4, I'm WOT from the line, so I suspect the timer is triggered at launch?

TIA

When you inspect the noids, check out all of the fittings and be sure there are no leaks, particles or debris anywhere. Also, check out the lines to the power ring and nozzles and inspect the jets with the TNT setup.
The other major areas are the plungers and seals to be sure they are sealing properly i.e. I've only had one noid in the last year devlop a "slow leak" when closed that was virtually undetectable when the system was all put together. Also, the electric connections should be checked often to be sure your not loosing ground or anything that may affect operation. On the wet kit, don't forget to inspect the fuel side noid as well as the N2O side.
I keep an extra set of noids around and swap after about every 20-25 runs just to check things out... It maybe a little much, but, better safe than sorry...

ARM, WOT & RPM trigger the start. I have an A4 also, but, with the 3200 converter I need to do a bit of tip-in on the throttle. With my 2400 conv I was at WOT from the get go... Make no mistake, it will take awhile to dial this in and its not a task for the impatient

My Vigilante is a 2800, but also is a 5 disc setup programmed for a 3rd gear lockup. I should get the car back later today or tomorrow and am looking forward to adding the window switches and progressive controller to the n2o setup. I'm still running the nitto drags and have been trying to avoid going to slicks, et streets or otherwise. The number one problem right now, is I absolutely smoke the nittos on launch even with a good burnout.
