i recently swapped a set of exhaust with another member that has electronic cut outs. i noticed that on my rear end that i have some kind of thingamajig on the back that the other car didnt have. the exhaust came off a 2000 coupe, mine is a 97 coupe. colby told me it was a performance option. can someone enlighten me on this? thanks
I believe the thingamajig option was only installed on a few, select '97's and that it was discontinued after that. Hang onto it since you have a rare one!
Sorry, couldn't resist. However, in all seriousness, I can't figure out what kind of thingamajig you are talking about. Can you describe it better?
Earlier years had the ABS Module mounted back there, does it have a lot of metal tubes going into it? That is likely what it is since it was later moved to the engine compartment.
I have an early 98. It is the ABS system which mid 98 was moved up front.
makes life simple when doing a Heads/Cam swap
I think the cutoff was somewhat early in the '98 build, September '97 may be it? if anyone has the actual cutoff please post
If you have JL4(active handling, first offered on the 98's)then the ebcm is up front
there is also a 3rd version, GM basically omitted half of the ebcm bracket in '01 to accommodate the 3rd version module/valve, 2 bolts with the Driver's rack bolt instead of the 4 bolts/rack bolt on the L98/00 cars
