Default floor jack recomendations??

any recomendations?
for a floor jack ??
i use the Rhino Ramps, work great as long as i use a 2x3 at the foot of the ramp!
then its easy to get pretty much any floor jack under the car, but the problem is:
my old one is breaking down/leaking
new ones are suspiciously cool looking but don't lift high enough for my pickup truck, and want to use this for both
any thoughts????
thanks in advance

Hi, go to Sears and checkout the craftsman series of floor jacks. I got one and it is low enough to get under the vette and lifts high enough (with a block of wood) to lift the tahoe

I got a nice low profile one from northerntool.com for reasonable prices.

I also have the Harbor Freight jack - really well made and is on sale often. Still need the Rhino's or wood ramps before you get the jack under.

I have the cheaper one (not rapid pump) from Harbor Freight and am very pleased with it. It is light weight, well made and has a low (3") minimum height.

They have more than one low profile model to choose from. I have two of their jacks- work well, no problems.

If you want to buy one jack that will last, get the AC Hydraulics jack...I got the DK20Q (the blue one in the picture), and it is awesome.

I picked it up from automotive service equipment...great jack.

The DK13HLQ will fit under the front or rear and lift both wheels at the same time. We use this in our shop and is the best jack we have ever used.

I just got a low profile (3.3 inches) from WallMart for $68. It is 3 ton and very heavy duty. I think it is called the Black Jack. It is not carried by every WallMart.

just make certain that any floor jack has two (both) sides supported with the arms. If the weight on the jack were ever to slip...you might need both sides supported.

And...don't forget great quality jack stands. I have seen a car (mine own) fall off the cheap jack stands.

You bet. I never get under a car without them.

I don't know if they carry it any more, but a few months ago I remember seeing a dual purpose floor jack at Costco. It was a jack with a low floor height, but the puck thingy had a low rise puck and a high rise puck that you change out, depending on whether you wanted to use it to lift a car or a truck. I didn't get it because I already have a nice floor jack.

I personally use an aluminum "racing jack" that I bought at Pep-Boys, and just put in a DIY 4x4 wood block when lifting the truck.

I have a Habor Freight jack as well. It cost me around 80 dollars, and here is a link to it. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91039

This jack sits low enough to get under the rear of the car without using ramps. Now for the front of the car I pull up on some 2x4s to get the jack under the engine.

The AC Hydraulics jacks are a bit pricey, but are a quality piece and will last many years. I have the DK13HLQ which will reach the front cross member from the front of the car. Very convenient.
