I had to get on the brakes pretty hard the other day at about 80 mph, twice, and got some vibration once they warmed up. There not warped or anything, extremely smooth under normal operation (they went back to smooth after a mile or so, i figure they got cooled off). Its the first time ive noticed any imperfection with them. Im wondering how noticeable a set of drilled/slotted rotors would be. Worth looking into for my 97?

You might have had some build-up on your rotors that caused the vibration when you heated up the rotors.
Would try a few more high speed stops, if the problem persists I would replace rotors with non-drilled or slotted rotors, that's all for show and actually makes more noise and wears out your brake pads faster.

I wouldn't bother. They are fine now and if you do as the other poster recommended you could get several more years use out of them. Before I started using racing brake pads on the track I ran stock brakes and pads on my 97 for 3 years while doing many autocrosses and track days per year. I went through a lot of pads but the rotors did just fine until I put the first set of aftermarket Hawks on and trashed them in one day.

Same here with first set of aftermarket Hawk pads, trasted the pads and rotors in one day on the track.
If you ever do get a persistent vibration under braking, don't bother getting them turned. New rotors are available from NAPA for under $30 ea., and are the same as the OEM rotors.
The slotted rotors will help in any vibrating you feel in the pedal and or pulsing. They self clean in the slots. Keep cooler and will last longer. I just got the new VETTE magazine in the mail and it has the article "Vette on a shoe string" this section is the3 brakes and also explains and shows how to replace the rotors and which ones to go with and why!
i did not know that they where for show, thanks for the responce
I just replaced the entire braking system (rotors, calipers, pads, and hoses) all the way around on my 99 coupe (68.5K). I used all GM parts and didn't skimp, as my safety is worth the extra buchks, right?
I bought the GM performance drilled and slotted rotors, and I haven't noticed any gain in braking ability. YES, they look good, but that's about it!!
I replaced my rotors with Cad. plated ones. WOW they look so much better than the rusted ones. Oh yes they are drilled and slotted and I am using the Hawk pads that are for street usage. No problems on a recent 1400 mile trip.
