Default where's this harness go?

trouble locating a short (i think) in the harness that goes from the passenger door to the car. inside the boot there's a pink(ish) wrapped harness. tugging on that seems to clear up a problem with false warnings on the DIC. i need to get to the car-side of the harness and deal with a short or? problem is, i can't find where the harness winds up in the car. checked behind the battery and inside the passenger footwell, to no avail. it would seem i could spy the harness coming through, but i can't. there's a plate in that locale, but it's heavily attached, like a hinge backer?? didn't want to unbolt that unless someone knowledgeable tells me that's the way to go. thanks, dave

Default check

Take a look inside the door, maybe you have a loose ground, an when you pull the wire it grounds, inside the door, other than that inside the kick panel, is where that wire should be going, to the fuse panel under the floor board on the pass side, near the firewall, the panel pops off.

Hope that will help....

bob, thanks for the reply... the harness doesn't go to the fuse panel, it lays across a channel under the glove box and proceeds to the drivers side. i think i'll have to remove the glove box to access it. just FYI..

To the best of my knowledge there are conectors inside that wrapping. I have seen this posted many times that the connectors come lose or corrode. You are suppose to be able to open that up to get at the connectors.

Dave

The harnesses for the door go through the accordon tune between the body and the door. You can pop the plastic accordion tube out of either end or both ends and assess the harness and connectors.

There will be TWO connectors. The large connector is known to have exposed wires. You can see the exposed wires in the pic:

If you can grab the two harnesses inside the accordion tube and change conditions, most likely you have a bare wire or bad connection in the connectors.

The insulation on the wire with the clear sheaf is a known problem. Pull it back down and tape it in place.
