I use a battery terminal ratchet (I think they are 8mm or so) that I goit at Sears and just nut the two bolts down snug - no torque.

Torque them in 1 pound increments or you'll end up with warped terminals. Also, no air guns whatsoever!! You can thank me later.

Use a spring scale. Hook it onto the and of the wrench. Divide 11 by the length of the wrench (in feet) from the center of the bolt to where the scale is hooked eg. 6" = .5. Tighten and check by pulling on the scale perpendicular to the wrench until the scale reads that number. Voila 11 ft/lbs.

Is this post for real??

I use a 1/4" drive and just snug-em down enough so that the terminals don't move. That's all ya' need.

I can pull 11 ft-lbs just using wrist action on a 1/4" drive ratchet, so that is all I use too.

I use an 8 mm battery wrench I got at Autozone. It has a built in release and if you exceed 12 ft-lbs it free-wheels. I find it most helpful and I have never warped a battery in over tweenty years.

So THAT'S what Snap on has been doing with those 8mm wrenches that I keep returning to them - every time I try and use the 8mm Snap on wrench to torque my lug nuts, the Da** thing strips out

12 ft-lbs? You sir, are playing with fire. However, I do admire your bravery.

I torque first to 5 ft-lbs, then 8 ft-lbs, then 11 ft-lbs. I had a warped battery once, never again!
