Just picked up my new Z06 and while driving cross country I noted a low frequency vibration in the speed range of 75-90. The cycle of the frequency is about ever one and one half seconds. At first I thought it was pavement, but the vibration persists on different road surfaces.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any suggestions on how to diagnose the cause and fix the problem?
It is definitely a vibration, and not exhaust. As it happens I could watch the edge of the visor and watch it vibrate and stop, etc. The dest way to describe it would be to bave about fifty yards od rough pavement followed by fifty yards of smooth pavement. So there is a vibrate - smooth, vibrate -smooth pulse with a rather slow cycle rate. I'd expect a thrown wheel weight to vibrate continuously. I checked the tires and see no signs of unusual wear on any one tire.
You can get the drive wheels off the ground and run it up to the speed where you get the vibration. That would tell you if it was something in the drivetrain, engine or rear wheel balance.
I have the same problem. I replaced wheels and tires and it hasn't gone away. The dealer thought maybe a wheel bearing. Please post if you successfully diagnose it.
Also, If it helps. It is not forward of the tranny in the driveline. You are the first person I have seen with this exact same problem. Also, in my case it is a little worse at 75 than at 85.
I've had the same problem since i've owned the car. I think it is the tranny somehow. Just a very slight vive at about 75-80+. I thought it was normal tranny vibration. Post if you fing the cure.
