I have a chirpy/squeaky belt. The steering/driver side alternator was replaced last week at the dealer. Also, been lotsa rain down here lately and some mild flooding.
I think it's the passenger side alternator belt... Are there 2 belts or 3?
Anyhow, what causes this and what's the fix? Just replace the belt?
It is typically the belt tensioner pulley bearing. Remove the pulley and spray the bearing with lubricant, or for a quick test, just spray into the bearing without removing the pulley and belt. If that works and you don't want to fool with periodic lubes just replace the belt tensioner.
I doubt the belt needs replacing. There are 2 belts, a short one drives the A/C and the main one drives everything else.
