Default Getting new rings...

Wednesday I brought my car in for severe misfiring in cylinder #3. Misfiring badly at idle, light throttle, and full throttle at RPMs below about 3K. Once RPMs got above 3K, the car would stop lurching and accelerate hard.

Dealer decided to do a ring job while they're looking for the problem. I knew they might want to and told them to go ahead if they wanted to. I figured they'd at least diagnose the misfire first. They did not. They tore into the engine first. I called to on Friday to get an update on if they'd figured out the misfire. They did not know but figured it was related to the oil consumption so the engine was apart already. I rushed down to look. The service manager is a real nice guy but I'm having a hard time having confidence in the dealership shop. The mechanic was a real nice guy but was a major grease monkey and came across as such. Further more, my car was lifted by the rocker panels using 2x4s between the panels and the lift. I casually mentioned that they were not using lift pads. The mechanic told me that 2x4s was standard procedure. I said nothing. A minute later as the manager and I walked out, I mentioned to him that the service manual calls for the use of kent-moore lift pads in all procedures requiring the car be lifted. He muttered something about knowing that and that they had been using 2x4s for a long time with no problems. He knows I'm going to be checking for cracked rocker panels the second I pick up my car. I also took pictures just in case but told him I would post them on the internet, so I won't

They said pickup by tuesday or wednesday. That means another 7 days added to the 24 days it has already been out for warranty repairs.

I'm currently in the middle of a buyback and would love to comment on the progress, but my lawyer has said not to talk to GM or any place that GM might read. I'm probably not even supposed to say that.

I need to e-mail you because I'm having some major issues with GM, their dealer service, and some major issues with my C5 including oil consumption.

I've been pretty open about asking for opinons on the forum but I'm beggining to wonder if any of my posts with show up in court. Of course I can always say I was asking hypothetical questions.

I'm starting to think that a class action lawsuit might be in order here!!! I hate lawyers but corporations like GM is why lawyers are needed.

GM will screw there customers that are buying $50k cars but kiss the butt of anyone buying a truck or suv!
