Default Borla Exhaust System

We own a 2003 C5 coupe and wold like to install a Borla "Stinger" exhaust system including Borla's X-pipe. Is there anything in particular we need to look out for or be sure to check before and after the installation?

Here's a How to, http://97vette.com/howto/mufflers/index.html I had to adjust the tips a few times, they moved around some until they had a few heat cycles on them. If you don't want to cut the stock exhaust off,you have to lift the car fairly high (I cut mine). You must be ready to explain why your car sounds so great at every fuel stop, when parking in public lots, and sometimes shouting across lanes in traffic.

You have to lift tha back of the car up at least 3 feet to get the right side off. I paid a muffler shop 50 bux to do my Borlas....ended up taking them off because I didn't like the drone at Hiway cruise speeds. 98 coupe....A4 trans...1500-1700 rpm.

Just did the Borla Stingers. Great sound!!!!! I didn't want my stock exhaust so I cut mine off. Who wants a stock exhaust?? Wrong car for that! Anyway, if you do want to save your exhaust then you will have to be able to lift the car about 3 feet. NOW, if you don't want to save em, then listen up, I scribed two lines where I was going to cut the pipes in case I wanted to go back to stock, then I got under the car, rear on ramps, cut the pipes in two, just where it starts to make the bend to go over the rear, hold muffler weight up. I used my big toe, otherwise, pipe will bind when you cut through, breaking blade (don't ask how I know this) Then you have to take the pipe out towards the back of the car (easiest way) you need a floor jack to lift the body a couple of inches when you are taking the pipes out, leaving the tires on the ramps, lift body, pipe will come right out. Then do other side the same way. Borla's come in pieces, put on loose, I tightened at front clamp. Took a level, touched all four tips, tightened everything up, checked tips again, run for a few days, check tips again......your done! Congratulations, you did a fine job, thank you.....bob.

Little tips. . .

When cutting the stock exhaust for the x-pipe, if you use a chain type exhaust cutter instead of a sawzall or whatever you will end up with a nicely champhered end to fit into the new system. It makes installation a lot easier. Measure twice - cut once.
