Do the tips actually effect the exhaust note????
I am doing a search to eventually choose a cat-back and keep seeing all the different tips.....ie (Classic, or Pro Series) does this change the sound???

As a generalization, the tips do make a difference in the sound. Tips that have a double layer of metal (like many finisher pipes screwed onto the pipe of imports) or thick tips tend to dampen out sharp sounds, as well as the spitting sound when condensates blow out, and any sound which has a sharp attack/decay. In short you get a mellow effect.
