Well, after 24,000 miles and some pretty serious drag racing, my stock clutch finally started to go. I was trying to decide for a while whether to go with the '02 Z06 Clutch, or the Cartek clutch. In the end, I went for the Z06 clutch for two reasons. First, the Z06 clutch was about 1/3rd the price. Second, I don't have heads/cam, so the Z06 clutch should be sufficient for my power levels. Let me just say I love this clutch. I had the slave cylinder replaced as well, so the pedal feel is much better, actually feels a little lighter than the stock clutch. The clutch just engages so much better. You can really feel the clutch engaging strong, not something I could say about the stock unit, especially during it's last days! I haven't been hard on it yet, need to break it in first, but I can already tell this clutch is going to grab MUCH better than stock at the drag strip. I also had an alignment done afterwards, and that made a BIG differance in how my car drives. It really feels like I'm driving a new car now, I love it. I'll end by thanking c4c5specialist for an AWESOME job doing the install!!!!! :D :D :D Not only did he do an excellent job with the install, but he spent a lot of time going over all the details with me, even showing me the old clutch I had beaten the crap out of! :D
Billy,
glad to hear that you finally got that fixed, back to 12.7's for you :D
November is a ways away, plenty of time to break it in right
Don't worry Pat, I'll have it broken in by November. Wouldn't miss those last two races for anything. 12.7s??? No way, with the cold weather and drag radials, I'm hoping for 12.5s, or better! :D :D :D
Any special mods required to clutch a '99? Did you surface the flywheel in the process?
Mine's probably next.
Thanks,
Ken :flag
The clutch should bolt right in Ken. The assembly comes with the clutch disk, pressure plate, and a new flywheel. I don't think any surfacing was done to it, but I'm not 100% sure. If you have over 20k miles on your car, it might be a good idea to change the slave cylinder at the same time. You'll get better pedal feel, it's worth the $70.

I stand corrected :nono:
Interesting idea for you, you said your buddy is getting married and you are going, and that's the reason for missing the next CC, how about having the wedding and reception at the track :D :D :D :D :D
