Default Deleting PCV

What is the purpose of deleting the PCV system besides oil in the intake? Is there any kind of power increase associated with this mod?

Don't know about deleting it. Many people put in a catch can. LS1's are known for sucking oil through the PCV valve into the intake manifold. It can even cause excessive oil consumption. It is more of a maintenance thing, but all that oil in the intake can not be good for performance.

There is a new PCV valve some people are installing also.

Check out my thread on this:

Dave68 has a great explaination on the PCV Valve and installing a catch can, here is the link:

If i were you I would do the catch can. If you delete the PCV I think it will cause excessive moisture in the engine. I had mine deleted on my Trans am for about a month then put a catch can on it and hooked the PCV back up. I checked the catch can a month later and couldn't believe the moisture that was in the can. All that moisture came from the crankcase. If I still didn't have a PCV all the crap would of been in my engine

I've deleted the PCV on every performance car I've ever owned except the vette.

Never had a issue.
Moisture should boil off at running temp.
Sludge issues are almost non existant with todays oils and the fact that most change it often.

PCV was put on mainly for the government.
Deleting will result in no oil in the intake and slightly cooler intake temps due to no having hot crankcase gasses comming in.

The only reason the vette still has it is because it will remain bone stock. (It is for the wife lol)

Obviously, moisture in mvvette97's cengine was NOT boiling off. You can only boil off so much moisture by driving 10 miles to work. I do agree that synthetic oil is less likely to sludge up than petro-based oil, but I would not eliminate the PCV valve unless I were changing oil every 2000 miles or less - something I do NOT want to do.

Yes, if you only drive a few miles nothing will get hot enough to boil off.

But also moisture is pulled in when the internals cool down. Same for the catch can. So even if you get to running temp and all is good, when you shut down moisture will accumulate again.

PCV delete is one of those things that is OK for some, not for others.

Hows this for a PCV set up.
I don't worry about moisture, she gets plenty hot and the oil gets changed very often. lol

MPG is horrible though.
