Default water leak

Just bought another c5, and on the way home got alot of water on the passenger side floor. Didn't drive in any rain. The water doesn't appear to have antifreeze in it. I saw the sticky on the drain for the condensation, but my car doesn't have that 90 degree fitting on the firewall. Any ideas?

What was the conclusion on this, my friend just called saying that the 2004 vert she has did the same thing, water on passenger side floor and brakes lights staying on even when car is off. The car only has 11,000 miles is this covered?

YES!! it should be under warranty

Here is what your up against. This is the HVAC air box:

Here is the drain tube:

It goes through the fire wall on the passengers side. It's probably plugged up with gook! You can attempt to suck it out with a wet and dry VAC.

You can also pull the fan out from the bottom and see if there is any foreign material inside the plenum area:

Here is the fitting from up top!

Thank you so much. So now about the lights staying on, do you think there is computer damage.

Your BCM is wet and needs to be dried out. Disconnect the battery, remove the bcm and sit it in a nice warm dry place. After it is dry, reinstall it and clear all your codes.

Make sure that the carpets around the BCM are DRY!

Remove the carpet if necessary!! It will mildew if you dont! ask me how I know!

I had this problem this past August when I was on vacation. Followed Bill's excellent thread on drying everything out and pulling the L-shaped drain hose from the firewall. I was lucky and did not suffer any BCM damage, but I was sweating it out for few days after.

Now I just have to figure out how to get a new L-shaped hose back on.... it could'nt be in a more difficult location.

awesome pics, i still have a leak though. On the firewall I'm missing the 90 degree fitting, just the straight pipe coming out. I can't seem to get a new one on either. Figure i'd do it next week cause the heads will be off. I don't think thats my problem though. I just discovered that it leaks on the passenger side really bad every other time I take the top off. Any idea what seals to change or why it only leaks sometimes? I mean if it is leaking and I take the top off and put it back on, it will stop. Just bought the car, and now its turned into a project, no carpet or passenger seat at the moment.

Thanks
Ryan

If you look at the area where the flashlight is shineing, you will see a plastic wiring harness cover. Directly below that wiring harness is a rubber fitting. That is the HVAC Drain. If I can get my fat hands in there, most people can! You can squeeze the end and make sure that it isnt stuck shut or clogged with gook. To properly service it, you need to jack up the car and access it from the bottom. If you have headers, FORGETABOUTIT!

Here is a pic of the tube/fitting:

If you pull the engine out of the car and look on the passengers side of the fire wall, you will see the drain:

Now you are informed,,,not confused!
