Can anyone tell me where exactly this switch is located under the seat. On my DIC my easy entry display shows two lines - - and it won't reset to either on or off. I have looked at fuse #4 and #30 and they seem ok. Thanks
Ron
Ease Entry is a MEMORY Function and applies ONLY if you have that package as an option. IF you have the option, you will have a switch on your drivers door switch panel. Mem 1 / Mem 2. If you have a third FOB, you can press mem 1 & 2 at the same time and set third memory setting!!
In the DIC OPTION page there will be a page to set the menory functions to ON. Once that is set to ON, you set everything up the way you want it, press and hold the memory function switch until the light BLINKS three times and you should be alllll set!
Thanks bill. The problem is on my dic all I get is two lines and no on or off function. It use to work fine so it must be somewhere else because when the easy entry won't work neither will the doors or windows.
If I'm not mistaken "easy entry" is a function of the BCM, so if it used to wrok and you can longer turn it on or off then it sounds like you'll need to replace the BCM.
Don't quote me on the module because it may actually come out of the SCM but since not only the seat moves but also the column then I figured the signal came from the BCM, no I'm going to have to look in the manual and see what I can find.
Wow I haden't thought about it being the BCM. It worked and stopped working a couple of times. Do you think the windows, door and the easy seat could all be controled by the same BCM?
Ron
Are you saying that when its out that the doors and window memory doesnt work or that the door locks and windows dont work? If ithat is the case then it is a ground issue. Most likely in the drivers door harness. Bill has some great pics of this issue.
Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.\
I bet your getting a pile of NO COMMS Codes. Sounds like your serial buss is having issues. The most common area of trouble is inside the accordoin tube between the door and body.
Look for bare wires, damaged /corroded connectors! check both tubes.
Yes bill
A lot of no comm and one still active. I looked at the door connections but I really can't tell if a wire is showing or not. My active code is u 1106. The super web site you gave with codes just lists it as a no comm. No where in perticular. Thanks for the help.

All of your modules send and receive signals over a serial buss. The signal wires all connect in something GM calls the STARR connector. It lives right next to the BCM and consist of two connectors. The connectors are interconnected by a shorting buss bar which is removable. Once the bar is removed, you can read each wire to ground and see if any are shorted or open. One of them will read open cause it goes to the OBD II ALDL connection under the dash and is used to probe the buss.
Which DIC module has the U code and which ones had the NO COMMS?
The saga continues. Open the door this morning and the seat goes back and the windows now work. Maybe goofing with the accorion area in the door helped.

Then its pretty obvious it is a wire or connector in door wire loom as Bill first thought it was.
You need move and shake wires to see which is loose. Might try cleaning them first.

Bill thats a good catch, I didn't think that door connector would cause a problem with the easy entry feature but judging by the loss of comm codes that 50th year is having this is definitely the problem.
Since you ""messed"" with the accordian and everything is working what I would recommend is taking it loose to expose the connector and then you'll see the 1 wire which just has the plastic tubing covering the conductor (see Bills pic), wrap this with electrical tape making sure you cover this wire.
I still can't find the short. Every time I hit a bump my windows will start working and the next bump they don't. The easy seat is affected as well. I have looked at both the door accordons and they don;t appear to be the problem. Is there any simple way to track down where the short is? I hate having to take it to the dealer as I know they will want a fortune to fix it. I have a 2001 a4.
Yep, start disconnecting things! Disconnect your seats one at a time, Dash Module, HVAC module, etc.. You can also whake rattle and twist wiring harnesses.

That's funny. We just bought a used '98 convertible. It has the Sport Seats but not the memory option. It also has the "EASY ENTRY/EXIT" option on the DIC, so apparantly the EASY ENTRY/EXIT is standard on all C5s. Ours even operates when selected OFF.
