Default Heads?

I have an 04' with quite a few mods and wanted to put heads on for some added horses but haven't decided on the brand. Any ideas?

Hard to advise anything not knowing what you currently have, what you're looking to achieve, and your budget.

List your current mods, cam specs, etc. n/a or boost application?

Cold air intake, Nitrous cam, stall, headers, x-pipe, no cats, and borla exhaust. I would like to add a bit more horsepower. I would like to keep the price under $1,100.00

Well, with Nitrous, I would lean towards an aftermarket head because of the thicker deck but then your stated budget doesn't support it. You might be able to find a used set of Darts in your budget, which have a thicker deck than the ported stockers.

What good is a thicker deck goin to do but lower compression? Right now my application is just running a 150 shot on stock compression and there is no need for it to be lower. Price really isn't an issue I just threw out a number.

If I was gonna go that route I would go with AFR 205 Heads In a heartbeat. I personally would do the H/C combo as you will have much better gains. Some guys I know are getting 100+ RWHP with the H/C combo. My personal favorite semi light mannered cam Is the T.R 224/224.563 563 114 LSA Cam with the 205 Heads ofcourse.
I'm really only familiar with the AFR's, I know there are other good brands~ I just know AFR Is really good. Best of luck~ Post some pics and dyno sheets when you get them Installed

If your budget is only $1100, you can forget about AFR heads, even used. I think Patriot has aftermarket castings in their "budget" line, for around that amount. The thicker deck doesn't affect compression, BTW, that's determined by the volume of your combustion chambers, given in cc's. Also affecting compression with the stock shortblock is the thickness of your head gaskets.

Patriot Performance has a very nice product that meets your budget. They start off with new GM "243" castings (original equipment on LS2 and LS6 motors) and port them on their CNC equipment. These come with stock valves (non-sodium filled) and the Patriot Gold spring package. They are new castings sold outright, so you're not getting reworked used heads, and there is no additional core charge. You can also have them milled to any cc you want at no additional cost, and they even include new TTY head bolts. I have them on my car, and I'm very pleased with the product, as well as with Patriot's customer service.
