Hello All.
Just traded a glass 32 Highboy Roadster for a 44k mile 98 C5 and got some cash too. I'll post pic's tomorrow of the car and what the previous owner changed in the air intake system. It has 05 Z06 wheels, doesn't it? The previous owner said they were Z06's.
It has stock exhaust, and from what I've read here already, the stock exhaust is very efficient. What about changing the mufflers with 3 chamber Flowmaster's?
The wheels in that pic are the oem C5 coupe wheels commonly referred to as "thin spokes" and started in 2000. Prior to that the '97-'99 wheels are known as wagon wheels.
These are wagon wheels
This is a C5 Z06 wheel... any chrome ones are aftermarket
This is a C5 Z06 wheel
As far as exhaust... Flowmaster is rarely used/sought after in the C5 world. I had them on my cobra and they were sweet, but there are far better choices for Corvettes.
The top catback manufacturers are:
Brola
Corsa
B&B
next time someone tells you anything about an '05 Z06, tell them you have a mint '83 Corvette to sell them
Good catch. I wonder how many people noticed that before reading your post.
You could have a 1983 corvette, but you would have a heck of a time selling it.
"No 1983 Corvettes were sold. Quality and production problems had delayed introduction of the new C4 generation so 1983 was passed over. 44 1983 cars were assembled. Some were used to sort out production details while others were assigned to engineering evaluation and crash testing. A few were part of a press introduction at Riverside Raceway in California, December 1982. 43 of the 44 1983 C4 Corvettes were destroyed. The one remaining car, number 23 (white), was retired to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY where it is now on display. It is still owned by GM."
Thanks again for the get backs. I'm going to look into the Flowmaster deal.
Mick
Like always, shop around as the price of these mufflers can vary tremendously. "AutoPartsWarehouse.com" has them listed for $228.95 a piece, with free shipping.
