Default Headlight noise

I'm hoping I already know the answer to this one but since everyone was so helpful on my last one I thought I would ask. I have done a search but can't find anything.

When I turn my lights off on my C5 they go down but the drivers side makes a brrrrr sound for about 5 seconds. Is this because the gear is stripped out? It goes all the way down but I think the teeth are shot at the end and it doesn't see the down sensor and just times out. Am I right?

I have seen rebuild kits for this. Has anyone done this? If so, is it hard?

i just rebuilt my r/f motor using the regular plastic gear. took about 30 minutes....

it was very easy! the 3 bolts are kinda a pain to get out but be patient with them!

click on electrical and scroll down to headlights

I see you have a 2000 model. Be sure and visually check to see what headlight motors you have, because 2000 was the dividing year. Early 2000s had the aluminum housing that bolts together and later 2000s had the plastic type. The kits are slightly different and the rodney dickman ones come with a brace that really helps if you have the plastic type, like I do. I did both mine about 6 months ago and have had no trouble out of them since.
