Default 2000 Vert with Active Handeling Shocks?

I have a 2000 with Active handeling and think i need new shocks? Does the Active handeling mean Z51? Will any vet shocks work or are they special for the Active handeling?

Active Handling has nothing to do with your shocks. It uses your brakes to keep you going in a straight line when you do something to cause the car to go out of control. It is able to operate any of the four brakes individually to help you look like a better driver than you really are.

Now, the Z51 part does matter, that is a suspension package, but you will have to find out whether yours is a Z51 or F45. If it is an F45 there will be a switch next to your active handling button that changes it from touring to sport to performance. If it is an F45 the shocks are very expensive.

If you have the ****, you'll have to disable/remove the F45 computer. Once done, any vette shocks will work just fine.

I have a 2001 convertible with F45 and all I did was take my car to my local tuner (MTI) and had them disable the F45 feature from the program and then I pulled the $450 each F45 shocks off the car and replaced with a set of Bilstein Sport shocks ($325 for the set of 4). Car rides much better than the F45. Also, IMHO the F45 gimmick sucks - never could tell if it made much difference and I purchased the car brand new so should not be any issues there.

Good luck
