Default Catch-can plumbing

I would like to build my own catch-can. Can someone describe the basic plumbing (how it connects throught the PVC system).

same principal as a moisture separator for compressed air .. oil is sucked toward engine (by manifold vaccume) and is deposited in low-point of can... I just bought one from CCA (Chip) and in looking at the quality,it's not worth screwing around trying to build one for $100.00... My advice is PM Chip... or go to CCA (sponsored vendor)

I agree with the previous post - too much trouble to fabricate one when you can get a quality unit for $ 100. I got the CCA unit and am most satisfied. If you still want to build your own plumbing is easy. Pressure relief hose from engine goes into the top of the catch can / separator. Oil / Vapors go through a filter / separator and oil falls to the bottom of the can. Vapors are drawn out at a lower point and routed to vacuum intake point on the manifold.

I'm installing a catch can this weekend. I got mine from forum member Dave68.
Daves are from an air compressor, air compressor people have been battling this problem for a long time now. It's just a little better tech and filters than the catch cans availble elsewhere, IMHO.
Dave just put in a little more thought into this problem than most.

I hope to be finished this weekend.

I will install a hose (3/8 fuel line) right after the PCV valve and route that to the catch can, then from the catch can back to the intake throttle body.

I will be improving Daves bracket and I will make that availble as well.

Hope this helps.

i built mine using a thermos. i had to go a few to find one that was airtight though.

i ran a hose from the intake to the side of the thermos, and a hose from the top of the thermos to the pcv valve.
i know there is some discussion about swapping the hoses, i can't see much difference either way, and this is how the catch can makers say to plumb it, so i did.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up an air compressor filter, I got a real nice one, on sale, for $20. Then, I used all the money that I saved and went to Detroit Speed Shops and got two, 3 foot, Braided Stainless steel hoses to put on it for $16 a piece, so for under $60 bucks, I got a nice looking, functional modification and saved some money too! Isn't this what it's all about?........bob.
