I recently received some vented fog light surrounds. I tried to replace the stock ones over the weekend, but I can't figure out how to get to them. I removed the valence cover from below the front bumper on both sides; removed the center air deflector; unbolted the bumper surround all across the bottom; loosened the radiator shroud, and I still can't get at it. I can't even get enough room to access the fog light mounting bracket. WTF am I missing?
Sounds like everything I did, not sure where you are getting hung up at. Try going in from the top to get at the fogligh mount, when I put my piaa's in thats how I got to them. Open the hood up and you should see them, maybe pull off the headlight shrouds.
You should be able to remove the brake air ducts and after there removed, theres plenty of room to work! There a BITCH to rip out and worse to reinstall but it worth it.
I understand where you are comming from. It was frustrating for me and I was considering removing the entire front cover to install the shrouds till I figured it out.
I removed the parking lights then It is easy to remove the fog light bracket by reaching in thru the parking light opening.
There are three bolts holding on each shroud. One outer and two inner. Getting the two inner bolts off of the fog light shroud is the tough part unless you are both skinny and double jointed. You don't need eyes for this because you cant see them and need to do it by feel. They can be reached from the top but if you are careful it is easier to reach in between the bumper cover and the radiator shroud. Removing the center air deflector was unnecessary.
It was a learning experience for me and took me longer to get the old ones out than to install the new ones. I agree with Bill that the install is worth it.
Thanks for the information. I was beginning to believe that the fog tlight surrounds were the first piece on the assembly line and the entire car was built around them! I will have some time later this week and will have another go at them.
If anyone else has any tricks, please don't hesitate to post!

Three valium and six beers may help with the patience necessary to complete the task...<grin>
