i use rp in my engine, it is alright. I will be switching to amsoil. from what i understand it the top two oils are rp and amsoil but amsoil has a few different componets that make it a little stronger.

I feel RP is one of the best on the market, never any failures due to poor qualtiy oil. I dont mind spending a few more bucks on the purple stuff.

Used purple and didnt see any difference to regular oils, then used castrol syntec and wow big power gain and it doesent seem to break down as fast as mobile 1, only used the purple once though because I realy like the castrol syntec a lot. The syncrostuff or whatever its called from RP did help shifting a bit when put in the trans on my VR4 though.

Tests I have seen show that RP oil produces a couple more horse than Mobil or Amsoil. This Is because RP uses a high Moly (Molybdenum Disulfide) content. But Amsoil shows better protection against wear.

Amsoil claims that they will not use the Moly because it can come out of suspension, agglomerate, clog oil filters or oil lines and settle in the bottom of the oil pan. This is why Cummins has banned the use of Moly oils in thier engines.

Personally, I would give up a couple horse power for longer wear on a street car, but in a race car where longevity isn't as much as an issue (rebuild every few seasons) I would look to RP for the horse power edge. Just my $0.02.

I've had bearing related problems with RP in my drag race engines so I would NOT put it in my street car

No BS I never fealt any power from anything else, not a downpipe not turning up the boost, but freash castrol definatly made a difference on my VR4 (at first, theres no way to compare it after the initial change IMO not by the seat of your pants). Then again the wheather makes a huge difference also, I never fealt any gains like I did from the castrol imediatly with any other oil including lots of mobile 1 changes. Try it out before you call BS.
