Several years ago I believe that Pontiac had a compact car that had very small profile headlights both low and high beam. I think they were sealed beam units that sat side by side. As I recall this car a a small eyebrow that closed over them when they were off to hide them even more. Has anyone looked to see if they could be adapted to the openings in the fog light area? Might be an interesting mod to shoot somemore light.
Actually I'm building headlight pods to replace those ugly frog eye pop-ups on my C5 using those lamps. The mid 60's were the only cool hidden lamps as they didn't mess up the lines of the car after dark. The lamps you're talking about were used in the '96 Pontiac GP as well as a number of other cars.
Anyway, I'm using the lamps you're talking about. They fit perfectly side by side in the stock headlight opening. The height is also perfect, allowing a Lexan lamp cover with the same profile as the original closed "doors". AND the new lamps plug right in to the stock sockets! What's really interesting is that the Sylvania "sealed beams" aren't really sealed beams at all. You can pull out the bulbs and replace with whatever you want. I'm going with the OEM configuration for now, but it's nice to have the option to upgrade to HID or whatever in the future. I've put about 20 hrs. in on the first pod and it's ready for paint. The second should go a lot faster. I also figured out how to mold Lexan in the oven after 4 attempts. The last one was perfect. Total cost should be around $300.00 vs. $1300.00 for the only set I've seen that doesn't screw up the lines of the car.

mellow yellow; it'd be great to see a write-up on your project...maybe with some build pics... dave
OK
I have the driver's side pod completed to the primer stage. I've just started the passenger side, so I can take photos of the process. I've posted pics at:

If the finished product fits and looks as good on the car as your craftsmanship in building them, you've got a winner! Next you, or someone you sell the idea to, has to build them. I'll take a set if you can tell me how the beam is adjusted up/down - right/left.
The stock lights are garbage. I even upgraded to Euros with over-wattage bulbs and I'm still unhappy with the result. The best car lighting I ever had was a Miata with 6" Bosch housings and 90/65 bulbs. I swear I could see into the middle of next week at any speed.
