Default Slave cylinder

The fluid in the clutch hydraulic system should be changed as you would your brake fluid. I believe that the dealer will charge you for about 5 hours of labor. There are several threads in this fourm on replacing the fluid yourself, by removing the old fluid from the master cylinder and replacing it with new fluid. This process is repeated several times until the brake fluid remains clear after several days of use.

Use a turky baster to suck out the old fluid.

That's not too bad if you don't want to do it yourself. They will need to remove your h-pipe, and tunnel plate.

If you lived near me I'd help ya do it.

That sounds too inexpensive to me. I would be skeptical as to how much of the system they could drain or flush in the less than an hours time? They may just remove the fluid in the reservoir and top off the level?

Do what he said. Go buy a baster and a bottle of fluid and just change the reservoir everyday you drive it until it clears up. I was having the clutch pedal sticking problem on my 02 Z06 after 55K miles and had never changed the fluid. I changed it everyday (in the reservoir) for about a week and the fluid is now clear and my problem went away. That's something that is just too simple to have to put your car in someone else's hands to get done.

what fluid came in the clutch? DOT 3 or DOT 4. I just purchased this car & need to take car of this before I have a problem. I have always heard not to mix 3 & 4, so what do I use?

also what is used in the brake system?

Factory fill is DOT3 in brake and clutch. AFAIK, you're fine to mix DOT3 and DOT4, but avoid the DOT5 silicone-based stuff. I've been using the turkey baster (actually mixmizer syringe) method to keep fresh Prestone DOT4 in both.
