Default Engine Removal. WTF?????

I have every thing disconnected on my 02Z06. All the wires the cradle the bell housing bolts the inspection cover every thing I can think of and see. But it will not detatch. It is basicly hanging on my engine hoist with the torque tube supported. What the F^*%. I have tried prying, pulling, wedging, nothing is working to seperate the engine from the bell housing. Am I missing some thing? Please help.

Did you undo the bolt that holds the drive shaft to the back of the motor.I know its like that on an auto,Don't know how it is with a stick.OK I read it alittle better I see you have the torque tube supported.

A few things you've probably already done but just to doublecheck.

Motor mount bolts removed from below. Then you have to pull up on the motor (if removing from above and not dropping from below) enough to get the bolts out of the crossmember. Then you should be able to slide the engine forward.

If you've tried that, double check you got all the Bellhousing bolts. The two at the top are very difficult especially with the wiring harness in the way. Move the harness to make sure there are no bolts under it. Also make sure the ground straps are removed from the back of the heads.

Don't be afraid to use a pry bar and give a "gentle" pull on it (betwen block and BH) to see if it can break free. If not, you have to still have something bolted up.

I took out the five bell housing bolts that I could see. Are there more? I figured there would be six or at least symetrical. I loosend the cradle and dropped it down about 10" or so. So the motor is free hanging on the hoist. The heads are removed so there are no ground straps or any thing of the like. I guess I will go and recheck for a missed bolt. I have taken out about twenty motors but this one has me stuck. Thanks guys for the imput.

pdd00. What kind of power are you making. I am basicly going to be running you set up shortly. But with 59cc AFR's and that cam on a 114.

If possible, have someone get in the car and press the clutch pedal (assuming you didn't disconnect it). The pressure might push the bellhousing out. The disc may be stuck ont eh shaft.

Just a thought.

dowel pins that align block/bellhousing will stick in the bore.If all bolts are indeed out, slip a 2x4 between clutch/bellhousing and gently pry it apart.Usually one side will come out, making you feel better then other side will work free.

I will try the clutch and 2x4 thing tomorrow. I rechecked the bell housing for bolts but couldn't find any. I was sure the dowls would give me some problem but this is rediculous. The steering rack is out as well.

I was thinking about just detatching it at the tq tube but I hate taking out the exhaust and tunnel brace. But atleast I know that disconnects. I had to replace the trans a while back.

There are 6 bolts that attach the bellhousing to the back of the engine, the oddball bolt is on the left side midway between the top of the engine and where it drops down at a 90 degree angle.
