Close, but that is the firing order of the pre-LSx small blocks, back to '55.
Look at the engine, the head farthest forward is always number one whichever side.
The head is forward because one rod on the crank must be forward the thickness of the rod on the crank journal.
I think some old fords had the pass side forward and no. 1.
