Default Best Performance for $1,500

I have 1,500 budget and would like to know some mods I could put on my car that will be worth it. It is a 1999 FRC with 49,000k and it has borla catback and a halltech intake.

Doin your own labor? Makes a big difference.

I'd say bump it up to 2,000 and go 4.10 gear swap or a Cam/Valvetrain upgrade. Otherwise go with Long Tube headers, Hi-Flow Cats & X-Pipe.

What kind of mileage would I be getting with the 4.10s because an FRC has 3.42 stock. My first idea was long tube headers and x pipe would be the best mod, and yes all the labor would be done by me.

if you can do your own work, and search the sale section:
long tube headers- i think tx speed has them less than $750
used cam- i bought mine for $200
gaskets, etc - fred beans or gm direct
dyno tune - depends on the shop

The 4:10's vs the 3:42 results in only about 350 additional rpm's at 70 mph in 6th gear. The effects on gas mileage will be the "playing around" in the power band all the time. Also bring 5th and 6th into usable gears on the street.

Depends on what you're looking for out of the mod. If it's just about HP/trq, then you can't beat the juice. $1500=100+rwhp.
