Sorry for the slow response, just back online today after being... uh... gone for awhile.

The AMSOIL Severe Gear 75w90 comes with friction modifier already in it. I do not add any additional friction modifier and my diff has never chattered. That said, about 5% of my customers do use the additive.

The correct answer is to not use the additive unless your diff chatters, then add a bottle.

Ok sub, you sold me. Is that your site in your profile page? I need to change out both the differential and the tranny. '99 MN6 FRC

So how do I order from you 4 quarts for the tranny and 2 quarts for the diff?

That is my dealer website in my signature, however, I do all my online sales via the AMSOIL Corporate website for several reasons. One, it is more cost effective for the customer that way as I'd have to pay AMSOIL shipping from them to me, then me to you. Additionally, AMSOIL has 11 distribution centers around the country and they are much better suited to stock large quantities of fluids, filters, etc ensuring short notice shipping (typically arrives about 2 business days after you order). Finally, ordering direct from AMSOIL isn't impacted when I'm unavailable due to my... uh... day job.

AMSOIL has two pricing tiers, retail and wholesale. Dealers and Preferred Customers pay wholesale which is about 25% under retail. It costs $10 to sign up for six months of Preferred Customer program membership, so it is cost effective for most orders.

To order direct from AMSOIL, you can either call: 1-800-956-5695
or order online here: AMSOIL Online Store

Either way you can sign up for the Preferred Customer Program when you order.

As long as you use reference #1206638 when you initially order, my dealership and the forum will be credited with that and all future orders.

AMSOIL product numbers:
Tranny fluid: ATF
Diff fluid: SVG
The hand pump: G2039 also comes in handy.

Please drop me another PM if I can help in any way.

I have a 1998 MN6, I changed to Mobil 1 at about 49,000 miles, shifted better, especially at cold temperatures.

After 51,000 miles with Mobil 1, it started grinding going into sixth gear. I replaced with Amsoil ATD, no more grinding.

I have heard that these transmissions are sensitive to dirty fluid. Amazing that GM says it never needs changed!

Default Amsoil

I'm thinking about replacing my manual transmission fold too and i have access to a local guy for Amsoil. Do you put ATF (automatic transmission fluid) in a standard? What weight?

Yes, ATF in the Corvette manual. GM specifies a Dexron III fluid for the C5 manual trannies which is an ATF fluid. The AMSOIL fluids which meet this spec are:
AMSOIL ATF (which I use in my Z06 on the track)
AMSOIL Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid

FYI, this can be ordered online to benefit the forum. Info in my signature.

Well, my supply of GC has dried up and I used to run the ASL with very good results. Just ordered two cases and used your reference #.

I recently changed mine and used GM Dextron 6,which is what all 05-07 vettes come with and is reverse compatable with Dextron 3.

I just got some Amsoil for my diff and tranny from SubDriver...thanks

I then jacked up my car in prepartation for my clutch install tommorrow and got to looking. The tranny says "Tremec" on it. It's a 99. I was thinking the 97-99 M6s were made by Borg-Warner not Tremec. So I'm wondering if my tranny has been replaced....and has the better blocker rings in it.

I was very nice meeting you and talking cars for awhile. I was also pretty impressed with what I assume was your wife's patience what we chatted away. I appreciate your support as well.

For what's its worth, I've never read that the 97-99 had a Borg-Warner tranny, but maybe I haven't been paying attention.

Default Tremac MN6s

I believe all C5 manuals are manufactured by Tremac. Never heard of a Borg Warner in a C5.

AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ is compatible with most limited slip differentials. If limited slip differential chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock™ friction modifier additive.

T-56s were designed and built by Borg Warner until 1998. Since then all have been manufactured by Tremec.

When you do change the fluid in the Diff and MN6 what tools will you need?

Should I use Teflon tape? How many turns of that, I forgot.

All of those are good choices; however, I noticed the smoothest shifting from Redline D4 ATF. Amsoil and Mobil 1 ATF were very close, but I've ran the Redline in two T56s and it's been the smoothest I've used to date.
