Default Header to cat connection

I read somewhere that some people use a red silicone or gasket sealer on the connection between the header collector and the cat converter pipes. Does anyone know what this stuff is?

Well, I have installed SLP and Kooks headers. The SLP headers have a slip fit with clamps that the header collector fits onto at the H-pipe just in front of the primary cats and then again between the cats and x-pipe. I did not use any sealers, just the clamps and a lot of elbow grease.

The Kooks are a complete 3" sytem from the header through to the muffler - header, cats, x-pipe - and they are flanged at the header and at the muffler connection with a slip fit clamp between the cats and x-pipe. Again, just used the Kooks gaskets and a lot of elbow grease.

Never used a high-temp or other type of sealer on an exhaust system in this car or any other car I have owned.

I know someone who used RTV high temp sealer at the slip-fit joint of his Stainless Works collectors and cats and I supposed it worked OK. Problem is it hardens under the conditions it lives in and is quite a mess to clean up and reapply if you ever need to R&R the system which is fairly likely.
