Default Brakes?

Just reading about the different pads out there on the forum. You guys are great and so, my question. When I bought my car (with 4000 miles) from a friend, he gave me a set of ceramic pads that he never installed. When I need new pads, should I use these or are different pads better for stopping, noise, etc. I know that he purchased those pads because he had heard of brake dust getting on his new chrome wheels which I now own, but I don't see a problem with the GM pads. I don't want any type of pad that will squeel, will the ceramic pads squeel? The stock braking in the Vette is fine with me, OK guys, some input will be greatly appreciated.......bob.

The ceramic pads shouldnt squeel, unless there is alot of brake dust build up. The aftermarket pads are for more wear and tear driving, basically they will help with squeels and brake dust.

You should be just fine with the ceramics. Low dust, should not squeal.

squeal is caused because the pad material ( metallics) is harder than the rotor.
Go with ceramics, low dust, NO squeal

IMHO, the ceramics feel to slippery, on the street the Hawk HPS bite down very nicely
